2024 marks the first full year of the implementation phase of Routt County’s Climate Action Plan and we are proud of the meaningful progress made on a number of the 40 recommended actions. From the 70+ community members with technical expertise volunteering to serve on CAP working groups to families planting trees along the Yampa River to governments integrating climate considerations into their decision-making, it is clear that climate action takes a collective effort. The 2024 Annual Report highlights successes across the CAP’s five key sectors — energy, transportation, waste, land use and economy.
As we enter the new year, we continue to let scientific consensus on the severity of the climate crisis guide our decisions. We focus on what we can do locally, knowing that what we do matters and that change is possible. Routt County is uniquely positioned with the tools and solutions, and importantly, the will to scale up climate action at this critical moment in time.
