Routt County Collaborating for Climate – Monthly Newsletter

Our January newsletter features the CAP’s newest initiative focused on climate equity. The CAP Collaborative recognizes climate action succeeds when all communities have equal access to and a voice in the benefits of local climate efforts. The effects of climate change also tend to have a greater impact on socioeconomic and geographically vulnerable communities. To better incorporate climate equity into CAP implementation, the CAP Collaborative has convened a Climate Equity Advisory Committee made up of leaders from local non-profits who work closely with more marginalized members of our community.

This fall the committee established a definition of climate equity. The committee is now in the process of developing a framework through which to pass the CAP’s recommended actions, advancing outreach efforts and continuing to research best practices. The Routt County CAP Collaborative joins other regional counties such as Eagle, Pitkin and Summit, advancing this important work.

As always, catch up on the latest news and actions you can take across our five priority sectors. We invite you to sign up for our newsletter if you haven’t already and share with your family and friends to keep the climate conversation going
